Manama, Apr.5 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa today received, at Al-Sakhir Palace, His Royal Highness Prince Andrew, Duke of York, marking his visit to attend the official opening ceremony of the UK Naval Support Facility (NSF) at Mina Salman.
HRH Prince Andrew conveyed to HM the King greetings and appreciation from HM Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and HRH Prince Charles of Wales, as well as their wishes of further progress and prosperity to the people of Bahrain.
HM the King welcomed HRH Prince Andrew and the accompanying delegation, extending his greetings to HM the َQueen and HRH Prince Charles. HM the King hailed long-standing historic relations of friendship binding the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Kingdom, lauding steadily-growing solid ties in all fields and fruitful cooperation and coordination.
HM the King reiterated joint keenness of the two countries on strengthening deep-rooted relations and consolidating ties for the sake of shared interests and the two friendly peoples. He hailed the official opening of the UK Naval Support Facility (NSF) at Mina Salman in support of the efforts of the international counter-terrorism coalition, which includes around 60 countries, to protect free navigation and world trade and combat piracy, protect international maritime routes and bolster world stability and peace.
HM the King commended the UK pivotal role played and positive contribution in serving regional and international security and stability amid current changes and challenges. HM the King reviewed with HRH Prince Andrew means of developing joint cooperation in the economic, trade and cultural sectors, hailing the Duke of York’s efforts and contribution to strengthening longstanding relations binding the two kingdoms.
HM the King hosted a dinner banquet in honour of HRH Prince Andrew, Duke of York.
