HM King Hamad attends junior endurance race

Manama, Mar. 3 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa attended the 5-km junior endurance race in which his grandsons took part alongside a number of young male and female horse riders. The race was held on the sidelines of His Majesty the King’s Endurance Cup Race which will kick off tomorrow at Bahrain International Endurance Village.

HM the King watched the race, in the presence of his Personal Representative for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS), President of Bahrain Olympic Committee and Honorary President of Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (BREEF) Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, BREEF President Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa and members.

HM King Hamad praised the large participation in the race by junior horse riders, lauding the distinguished efforts made by Shaikh Nasser to promote the equestrian and endurance sport through different programmes. He also commended the tremendous efforts exerted by BREEF in mapping out programmes and organising functions to develop those heritage sports.

Shaikh Nasser paid tribute to HM the King for attending the 5-km junior race which HM directed to hold on the sidelines of HM the King’s Endurance Cup. He stressed that the royal directives aim to promote the endurance sport as a culture among generations in order to preserve it as one of the main heritage sports. He pointed out the big strides made by Bahrain in this sport thanks to the unflinching support and follow-up of HM the King.
