Curtain falls on National Heritage Festival

Manama, May 5 (BNA): The curtain has today fallen on the 26th edition of the National Heritage Festival which proved a success.

The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) held the event at the vicinity of the iconic Arad Fort in the city of Muharraq.
Held under the auspices of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, the ten-day national festival attracted more than 35,000 visitors.

The 2018 edition was held under the nostalgic slogan “Muharraq Memory”, celebrating Bahraini long-standing heritage and Muharraq legacy in the fields of culture, literature, arts and sports.

This year’s edition of the National Heritage Festival coincided with the 2018 Muharraq Capital of Islamic Culture. It focused on Bahrain’s deep-rooted heritage which include palm-linked handicrafts, the Kurar, the naqda, traditional fashion, pottering, goldsmithing among other crafts.

An exhibition showcasing 100 works by Bahraini artist Ibrahim Khalifa went on display. Artist Shaikha Hanan bint Hassan Al-Khalifa also exhibited her collection of photos which were taken during the period between 1992 and 2002.

The 2018 edition featured also documentary films, the heritage village, tradition dishes, folklore music, workshops for calligraphy, pottery and other crafts
