Saturday 7th Jul 2018

Manama, July 7 (BNA): The Bahrain National Space Agency (NSSA) announced today the launch of Bahrain’s ‘Space Team’ programme, the first initiative of its kind in the Kingdom, which aims to support Bahrainis working across a wide range of areas related to space science and technology.
H.E Eng. Kamal bin Ahmed Mohamed, the Minister of Transportation and Communication, and responsible for the NSSA, highlighted the crucial role of HM King Hamad in the development of the Kingdom’s space science and technology sector, noting that this important endeavour corresponds directly with the objectives of Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 to advance higher education, scientific research, innovation and public services throughout the Kingdom

H.E. the Minister went on to stress that HM King Hamad has taken a personal interest in the work of the NSSA since its establishment, adding that the progress the agency has achieved to date would not have been possible without HM King Hamad’s support and guidance

H.E. the Minister also emphasised the NSSA’s commitment to enhancing the skills and prospects of Bahrainis in the field of space science and technology through job opportunities and training programmes

The Executive Chairman of the NSSA, Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Aseeri, stated that the initiative, which is being closely followed by H.E. the Minister and the Chairman of the NSSA’s Board of Directors Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Al-Amer, will see the hiring and training of 10 highly skilled Bahrainis, who will become the Kingdom’s first group of space science and technology specialists

Dr. Al-Aseeri explained that the selected candidates will undertake an intensive 24-month long training programme, conducted both in Bahrain and abroad, intended to further enhance the Kingdom’s space-related capabilities

Dr. Al-Aseeri concluded by stating that the deadline for applying to the ‘Space Team’ programme is 29 July 2018, and invited Bahraini citizens with engineering and related backgrounds to visit the website NSSA.gov.bh to find out more about the entry requirements and application process
