'Bahrain interested in strengthening GCC, Arab cooperation'

Tuesday 4th Apr 2017

Manama, Apr. 4 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has asserted that the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is based on solid foundations, including the historical ties binding its countries and their common destiny and love among them at the official and popular levels, stressing that the political and economic cooperation among GCC states have strengthened the existing foundations and made the GCC structure robust. “Such factors, which are the pillars of the unique GCC relations, have been a bulwark against the ambitions of those who sold illusions and promoted chaos that has destroyed the ‘spring of development’ which many Arab countries used to live, and made them, along with their peoples, pay a heavy price,” HRH Premier said.

The Prime Minister made the statements while receiving, in the presence of some Royal Family members, the Kuwaiti Ambassador to Bahrain and the Dean of Diplomatic Corps, Shaikh Azzam bin Mubarak Al-Sabah.

Reviewing regional and international issues, HRH the Prime Minister reiterated Bahrain’s interest in upgrading cooperation with GCC countries, and strengthening GCC and Arab cooperation out of its conviction that the current phase requires every efforts to confront the repercussions of the present regional situation, as well as to reduce its impacts on the region’s countries and peoples.

HRH Premier commended the efforts being exerted by GCC leaders through adopting initiatives that would strengthen political and economic cooperation and coordination at the bilateral and GCC levels for the common interests of the region’s countries and peoples.
