“The Supreme Council for Environment and everyone in Bahrain is taking part in the celebration of this day that aims to develop cooperation between all stakeholders in the conservation of natural life.”
HH Shaikh Abdullah added that the Council was always trying to promote the concept of preserving the environment and natural life and raise environmental awareness within the community through educational and awareness programmes in order to continue to protect Bahrain’s rich natural environment and to address the problems of pollution and reduce its impact through the development of national strategies and plans and the enactment of laws and legislation to protect the environment and set up natural reserves.
“The Supreme Council for the Environment is always keen on an active participation in regional, Arab and international conferences and forums and on contributing to projects and studies and solutions for the preservation of the environment, nature and biodiversity. This keenness has led to joining numerous regional and international conventions aimed at preserving the environment. The Council has also encouraged the government and private sector to participate in the consolidation of the environmental culture in Bahrain through the organization of the ‘Environment Month’ in March last year with the participation of ministries, companies, civil institutions and schools in Bahrain,” he said.
The event achieved great success in consolidating an environment culture and education and in reinforcing the positive principles of sustainable environment under its various aspects within all segments of society, he added.
“Several companies and institutions have adopted environmentally friendly projects and encouraged scientific research in this area. They also supported directing projects in the Kingdom to adopt the best ways and means to protect the environment, rationalize consumption, conserve natural resources, and preserve natural reserves that are rich trees and migratory birds.”
Such commendable achievements were accomplished thanks to the dedicated efforts exerted by all parties who acted within a strong teamwork spirit to support the promising concept of sustainable development for future generations, HH Shaikh Abdullah said.
